Eligibility criteria:
.Each year, one scholarship will be offered with a minimum value of $10,000 to a graduate student who:
(1) is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in the first year of study in either a master’s or doctoral program in Biological Sciences offered in the Faculty of Science;
(2) has achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study;
(3) will be undertaking research in animal biology; and
(4) has displayed excellent potential or ability for scholarship and research.
The recipient may not hold a major scholarship or any other similar support valued at $10,000 or more.
Applicants must submit a completed Biological Sciences Award Application form.
The Harold E Welch Memorial Graduate Scholarship is renewable for up to one additional year for a master’s student or three additional years for a doctoral student provided that the recipient:
(a) is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in either a master’s or doctoral program in Biological Sciences offered in the Faculty of Science;
(b) has achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study;
(c) has a research program focused on animal biology; and
(d) continues to display excellent ability for scholarship and research.
Applicants must submit a completed Biological Sciences Award application to be considered for the renewal award.
